Fix the Food Chain

We're not saying it's time to give up your favourite food. But we need to make a few changes to the way it's produced.

The food we eat often has global impacts.

Did you know?
Meat and diary farming produces more climate changing gases than all of the world's cars, planes and lorries. (UN FAO's Livestock's Long Shadow).

So why is this?
Animals in factory farms are fed huge amounts of protein to make them grow quickly. Most of this comes from soy - which is shipped from South America. And big business is cutting down the rainforests there to grow it.

This food chain is wiping out wildlife and making climate change worse.

The industry is pulling the plug on the Earth's free life-support systems - which provide us with clean water, healthy soil and air that we can breathe. Small scale farmers, forced off their land by soy plantations, are now unable to grow food for their families. The global chain also fails UK farmers, leaving them vulnerable to fluctuating commodity prices.

Fixing the Food Chain The Food Chain campaign isn't about getting rid of meat and dairy farming - it's about getting Government to revolutionise it.

We want to see them change the deal behind our meals.

This means:
Shifting subsidies away from factory farming.
Supporting farmers to grow their own animal feed.
Supermarkets offering fairer deals for everyone.
