A strong climate law? WE DID IT!!
Climate Law Success!! A strong climate law? We made it happen!! On the 26th November 2008 the Climate Change Bill became the Climate Change Law 2008 and is now not only the world’s first piece of climate change legislation, but it is world class!

This is a huge victory for people power in the fight against climate change; hundreds of thousands of us all over the country put incredible pressure on the Government and forced it to act. We are all part of this action and should be proud of the roles we have played in this historic law. WELL DONE YOU
In October 2006 Sir Nicholas Stern published "The Stern Review, the Economics of Climate Change." It says "there is still time to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, if we take strong action now" and "the costs of stabilising the climate are significant but manageable; delay would be dangerous and much more costly." This Review is important because it is the first time that the cost of climate change in economic terms has been investigated by a world respected economist. Politicians across the world are now more likely to act now because it has now been clearly shown that any delay will be costly in money terms.
In 2007 the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published its 3 climate change reports. These Report have removed all doubt that climate change is happening now, happening faster than previously thought and that human activities are the cause.
We support the Kyoto Protocol and encourage policies that will reduce carbon dioxide emissions. We will be campaigning for a strong post-Kyoto treaty in Copenhagen in December 2009.
